West Warwick 11 Prout 4 (League Game 5-7-13)

Wizards upend Crusaders, 11-4!

Led by the solid pitching of Tyler Boisclair, Tom Doran, and Ray Zincone, West Warwick won their seventh league game of the year, 11-6, over Prout.

Boisclair, who doubles as the Wizards’ varsity catcher, struck out five batters and allowed only three earned runs on four hits.  Doran allowed just one hit in one inning of relief and Zincone struck out the side in the top of the seventh inning.

The Wizards took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning on three hits, two walks, and one error.  Matt Grenier led off with a single to centerfield, advanced to second when Andrew In reached on an error, moved to third on Evan Barrera’s single to left field, and scored on Mike Pellerin’s bases loaded walk.  After a bases loaded walk to Tyler Boisclair, Tom Doran followed with a sacrifice fly to score In and then, Barrera scored when Pacer Carpenter’s flyball to right was lost in the sun.

Offensively, the Wizards received contributions from Tim Fournier (one run scored), Matt Hopper (one run scored), Pacer Carpenter (two singles and one r.b.i.), Tom Doran (one r.b.i.), Tyler Boisclair (one r.b.i.), Ray Zincone (one single, one double, and one r.b.i.), Mike Pellerin (one double, two runs scored, and one r.b.i.), Evan Barrera (one triple, two singles, and two r.b.i.’s), Andrew In (one single and three runs scored), and Matt Grenier (one single and two runs scored). 

Chariho 5 West Warwick 2 (League Game 5-4-13)

Wizards give one back to Chargers, 5-2!

After committing eight errors, West Warwick lost 5-2 in a league game at Chariho.

Greg D’Ambrosca, who pitched six innings for the Wizards, struck out three batters and allowed just one earned run on four hits. 

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the third inning, West Warwick took a 2-1 lead when Logan Chapman singled, stole second base, and scored on Matt Grenier’s r.b.i. double to left field.  Grenier later scored on back to back singles by Andrew In and Evan Barrera.

Chariho, however, scored four unearned runs on eight errors over the last four innings of the game.

Offensively, the Wizards were led by Matt Grenier (3/4, one double, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Andrew In (1/3), Evan Barrera (1/4), Pacer Carpenter (1/2), Matt Hopper (pinch hit single), and Logan Chapman (1/2, one run scored). 

West Warwick 5  Hendricken 1 (Non League Game 4-30-13)

Wizards down Hawks Frosh, 5-1!

In a non-league encounter with Hendricken, the West Warwick Junior Varsity won 5-1.

Tyler Boisclair, Anthony Indeglia, and Matt Grenier combined on a two-hitter. 

Boisclair, who worked the first four innings, struck out four batters and allowed only one unearned run on two hits.  Indeglia struck out five batters in two innings or work and Grenier struck out one in a scoreless seventh. 

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, West Warwick took a 3-1 lead when they scored three runs on doubles by Mike Pellerin, Tyler Boisclair, Jake Woodside, and Tim Fournier.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Wizards scored two more runs on hits by Grenier, Indeglia, and Evan Barrera (two-run double). 

Tiverton 5 West Warwick 4 (League Game 4-25-13)

Tigers steal one from Wizards, 5-4!

The Tigers of Tiverton scored five unearned runs on three hits and three errors in the top of the sixth inning and held on to defeat the Wizards Junior Varsity, 5-4. 

West Warwick took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when Jake Woodside doubled and scored two outs later when Andrew In’s ground ball to third was misplayed.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Wizards built a 3-0 lead when Tom Pecchia hit a pinch-hit two run double to score Matt Hopper (reached on an error) and Tim Fournier (single). 

In the top of the sixth, however, Tiverton scored three runs on three errors and three singles to take a 5-3 lead.

West Warwick rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning when Mike Pellerin singled, moved to second on Anthony Indeglia’s single to left, and scored on Pacer Carpenter’s single to left field.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Logan Chapman reached on a walk and advanced to second when Andrew In reached safely on a bunt single.  After Matt Grenier’s sacrifice bunt, Evan Barrera was walked loading the bases for Mike Pellerin who lined out to end the game.

Anthony Indeglia, who started the game, struck out six, walked three and allowed just two hits in five innings of work.  Matt Grenier, who pitched the final two innings, struck out two batters, intentionally walked one, and allowed three hits.

The Wizards, who outhit the Tigers 9-5, received hits from Andrew In (two infield hits), Mike Pellerin (one single and one run scored), Anthony Indeglia (two singles), Pacer Carpenter (one r.b.i. single), Jake Woodside (one double and one run scored), Tim Fournier (one single and one run scored), and Tom Pecchia (one two-run double). 

Westerly 10 West Warwick 8 (League Game 4-23-13)

Bulldogs survive cold weather and Wizards, 10-8!

In weather conditions best suited for a snowball fight, the Bulldogs of Westerly (7-1 in league play) defeated the Wizards (6-1-1 in league play), 10-8.

Down 9-2 after four innings, West Warwick outscored Westerly, 6-1, over the last three innings before  leaving three runners stranded in the top of the seventh inning.

Offensively, West Warwick received  hits from Jake Woodside (one single), Tom Doran (one single, one run, and two walks), Mike Pellerin (two singles, two runs, and one r.b.i.), Evan Barrera (one double, one triple, two runs scored, and three r.b.i.'s), Matt Grenier (one single and one run scored), and Andrew In (two singles and two runs scored).

West Warwick 13 Narragansett 0 (League Game 4-17-13)

Led by the no-hit pitching of Anthony Indeglia, the Wizards Junior Varsity improved to 6-0-1 on the year (7-0-1 overall) in Division II-South.  Indeglia struck out four batters in four innings of work.

Offensively, the Wizards, who received seven free passes on five walks and two hit batsmen, were led by Andrew In (1/4, one r.b.i.), Matt Grenier (2/2, two runs scored, and one r.b.i.), Mike Pellerin (1/3), Anthony Indeglia (1/2, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Tom Doran (1/2, one run scored), Logan Chapman (one run scored and one r.b.i.), Pacer Carpenter (two runs scored), Matt Reid (one run scored), Matt Hopper (one r.b.i.), Tom Pecchia (1/2, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Jake Woodside (1/1, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Tim Fournier (1/1, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), and Zach Auriemma (two walks and one r.b.i.). 

West Warwick 7 Narragansett 0 (League Game 4-17-13)

Led by the four-hit pitching of Gregg D’Ambrosca, the Wizards Junior Varsity defeated the Mariners of Narragansett, 7-0. 

D’Ambrosca, who threw 37 of 54 pitches for strikes, struck out three batters and walked one in five innings of work.

Offensively, the Wizards were led by Matt Grenier (3/3, one double, one triple, two runs scored, and two r.b.i.’s), Evan Barrera (1/2, one run scored, and two r.b.i.’s), Mike Pellerin (1/2, one double, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Zach Auriemma (one single), and Pacer Carpenter (1/3, one r.b.i.).

West Warwick 13 EWG (League Game 4-15-13)

Led by the solid pitching of Tyler Boisclair, the Wizards Junior Varsity defeated EWG, 13-0.

Boisclair, who worked four innings of no-hit ball, struck out seven batters and walked four.

Offensively, the Wizards received multiple hits from Andrew In (2/3, four runs scored, and two r.b.i.’s), Matt Grenier (2/4, one double, one run scored, and five r.b.i.’s), and Evan Barrera (3/4, one double, one triple, one run scored, and two r.b.i.’s).

West Warwick 5 EWG 2 (League Game 4-15-13)

Led by the two-hit pitching of Tom Doran, the West Warwick Junior Varsity defeated the Scarlet Knights of Exeter-West Greenwich, 5-2. 

Doran, who pitched five innings, struck out nine batters and walked one.

Offensively, the Wizards received contributions from Logan Chapman (one run scored), Pacer Carpenter (1/2, one run scored), Tyler Boisclair (1/1, one run scored), Evan Barrera (one double, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Matt Grenier (one double and one run scored), and Andrew In (one double and three r.b.i.’s)

West Warwick 2 Prout 2 (League Game 4-13-13)

Led by the solid pitching of Rich McNeil Jr. and Matt Grenier, West Warwick tied Prout, 2-2.

McNeil, who threw 47 of 75 pitches for strikes, struck out eight batters, walked two, and allowed just three hits.  Grenier, who worked the last two innings, struck out three batters and allowed one hit. 

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, West Warwick tied the game when Tom Doran singled, moved to second on Tim Fournier’s sacrifice bunt, and scored on Jake Woodside’s double to left field.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Wizards tied the game with a two out rally.  Matt Grenier reached on a single to left and scored on Evan Barrera’s triple to left field.

Offensively, the Wizards, who outhit the Crusaders 9-4, received hits from Matt Grenier (1/4, one run scored), Evan Barrera (3/4, one double, one triple, and one r.b.i.), Tom Pecchia (one pinch-hit single), Tom Doran (2/2, one run scored), Jake Woodside (1/2, one double, and one r.b.i.), and Logan Chapman (1/2).

West Warwick 10 Chariho 9 (League Game 4-11-13)

Down 6-1 after two innings of play, the West Warwick Junior Varsity team came back and defeated the Chargers of Chariho, 10-9. 

In the bottom of the third inning, the Wizards scored four runs on hits by Logan Chapman (lead-off bunt single), Andrew In (single), Matt Grenier (r.b.i. single), and Anthony Indeglia (two run double). 

After Gregg D’Ambrosca retired the Chargers on two groundouts and a line out, West Warwick took an 8-6 lead with three runs on two walks (Tim Fournier and Andrew In) and two hits by Matt Grenier (r.b.i. single) and Evan Barrera (two run single). 

After the Chargers regained the lead with three runs on two hits and two errors in the top of the sixth inning, the Wizards came back with a two out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Logan Chapman walked, stole second, advanced to third base, and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 9-9.  Andrew In, then, reached on infield single, stole second base, and scored on Matt Grenier’s double to left-center. 

Grenier, who threw 9 of 13 pitches of strikes, induced three groundouts in the top of the seventh inning.

Offensively, the Wizards received hits from Andrew In (3/3, four runs scored, three stolen bases, and one r.b.i.), Matt Grenier (3/4, one double, two runs scored, and three r.b.i.’s), Evan Barrera (1/4, two r.b.i.’s), Mike Pellerin (1/3, one double and one run scored), Anthony Indeglia (1/2, one double and two r.b.i.’s), Pacer Carpenter (1/3, one r.b.i.), and Logan Chapman (1/2, two runs scored). 

West Warwick 8 Hendricken Frosh 0 (Non League Game 4-8-13)

Led by the solid pitching of Freshman Tom Doran, the West Warwick Junior Varsity blanked the Hendricken Freshman, 8-0. 

Doran, who pitched all seven innings, struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits.

Offensively, the Wizard received support from Andrew In (one walk, one run scored, and three stolen bases), Matt Grenier (three walks), Evan Barrera (2/4, one triple, one run scored, and one r.b.i.), Pacer Carpenter (one single), Anthony Indeglia (2/4, one run scored), Tom Doran (one walk and one run scored), Jake Woodside (one hit batsmen and one run scored), Matt Hopper (two walks and two runs scored), Tim Fournier (one triple and one run scored), Zack Auriemma (one r.b.i.), Tom Peccia (one r.b.i.), and Matt Reid (one r.b.i.). 

West Warwick 17 Mt. Hope (League Opener 4-4-13)

Led by the solid pitching of Rich McNeil Jr. and an eleven-hit attack, the West Warwick Junior Varsity opened up with a 17-0 victory in five innings over the Huskies of Mt. Hope.

McNeil earned the victory by striking out two batters and allowing just two hits in five innings of work.

Offensively, the Wizards received contributions from Matt Grenier (2/3, four runs scored, and one r.b.i.), Rich McNeil (2/3, three runs scored, and one r.b.i.), Gregg D’Ambrosca (2/3, one run scored, and two r.b.i.’s), Matt Hopper (r.b.i. single and one run scored), Evan Barrera (two walks and two runs scored), Tyler Boisclair (2/3, two runs scored, and four r.b.i.’s), Mike Pellerin (one r.bi. single), Tim Fournier (one walk and one run scored), Tom Doran (two walks and one run scored), Pace Carpenter (1/2, one run scored), and Logan Chapman (one walk and one run scored).
