Deering 10 Cole 9 (League Game 4-10-13)

Led by Brandon Pelland’s walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, Deering outlasted Cole, 10-9.

The victory by Deering which featured several lead changes improved the Junior Wizards record to 2-1 on the year. 

Down 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Chris Gaipo lead-off with single.  After one out, Travis Caddick singled and Brogan Guilmette walked to load the bases.  With two outs, Andrew D’Ambrosca singled in Gaipo to tie the game and Pellan followed with the game winning hit, scoring Caddick from third base.

Offensively, Deering was led by Chris Gaipo (two singles, one double, and three runs scored), Travis Caddick (one single, one double, and one run scored), Andrew D’Ambrosca (three singles and two runs scored), and Brandon Pelland (two singles and one run scored). 

Deering 9 Msgr. Clarke 5 (League Game 4-8-13)

Led by a 15-hit attack, Deering cruised to their first victory of the year over Monsignor Clarke, 9-5. 

Ernie Wright, who pitched six innings, earned the win by striking out six batters and allowing just five runs on four hits and three walks.

Offensively, Deering received hits from Brandon Pelland (two singles and one r.b.i.), Nick Pecchia (one single), Andrew D’Ambrosca (one single, two walks, and one r.b.i.), Hunter Dean (two singles), Brogan Guillmette (two singles and one r.b.i.), Travis Caddick (two singles), Ernie Wright (three singles), and Chris Gaipo (two singles, one walk, and two r.b.i.’s).

Westerly 3 Deering 1 (League Opener 4-1-13)

In their 2013 league opener, the Junior Wizards of Deering dropped a 3-1 decision to Westerly Middle School.

Eighth grader Ernie Wright pitched well for the Junior Wizards.  In six innings of work, the righty struck out ten, walked three, and allowed just three hits.

Offensively, Deering received contributions from Chris Gaipo (2/3, one double), Ernie Wright (one double), Trevor Caddick (one double), Alex Hernandez (one single), and Brandon Pelland (one single).

Black Division - 2013 House Rules

West Warwick Cal Ripken League Black Division House Rules

Last Revised: 2013.03.25

1. Pitchers can pitch six innings in one week (Sunday-Saturday). One pitch in an inning constitutes one inning pitched.

2. Starting pitchers may re-enter the game, provided they are not removed on the second visit of an inning by a coach.

3. If a pitcher pitches three or more innings, they need to have two complete days of rest. Note: If a pitcher pitched three innings on Monday, they would not be able to pitch on Tuesday or Wednesday.

4. Every player will bat in a continuous batting order.

5. No player should sit out more than one inning until all players have sat one inning.

6. Each manager should make an attempt to play each player at different positions throughout a game and season.

7. Once the pitcher has the ball and is on the rubber, the play is dead. No more players can advance.

8. No leading. Legal secondary leads occur after the pitched ball crosses the plate.

9. 4-run limit per inning. Unlimited runs in the last inning for both home and away teams.

10. 2h game rule (no new innings after 1h, 50m of play).

11. Regular season games can end in a tie. Playoff games will be allowed extra innings.

12. Total managers and coaches on the field cannot exceed 3 plus 1 in the dugout.

1.   Pitchers can pitch six innings in one week (Sunday-Saturday).  One pitch in an inning constitutes one inning pitched.

 

2.   Starting pitchers may re-enter the game, provided they are not removed on the second visit of an inning by a coach.

 

3.   If a pitcher pitches three or more innings, they need to have two complete days of rest.  Note:  If a pitcher pitched three innings on Monday, they would not be able to pitch on Tuesday or Wednesday. 

 

4.   Offense/Defense Swing Players:  Players, who are designated to “swing” during the game, must alternate per inning and per at bat.

 

a.    Defense:  Player A would play the odd numbered innings (1,3,5) & Player B would play the even numbered innings (2,4,6).

 

b.    Offense:  Player A would bat up the “odd” numbered plate appearance & Player B would bat up the “even” numbered plate appearance.

 

5.   Managers have the option to either “swing” or “split” players.

 

6.   If a manager decides to “split” players, each player will bat once and play nine outs in the field, provided the game is six innings long.

 

7.    Extra Hitters do not swing or split.  They will bat the entire game.  A player cannot be an EH for two consecutive games in a row. 

8.   2h game rule (no new innings after 1h, 50m of play).

      9.   Regular season games can end in a tie. Playoff games will be allowed extra innings.

    10.  Total managers and coaches on the field cannot exceed 3 plus 1 in the dugout.
