John F. Deering 2012 Results

Game Six:  Cole 4  Deering 3 (April 18, 2012) - Non League

In a well played non league game Deering lost to Cole, 4-3.

Lefty Tom Doran pitched well for Deering.  In six innings of work, Doran allowed only four runs on four hits and one walk.  Doran, who struck out three batters, threw 55 out of his 81 pitches for strikes. 

Offensively, Deering received hits from Matt Grenier, Joe Maynard, Andrew D'Ambrosca (two singles), and Alex Hernandez. 

Game Five:  Davisville 8  Deering 4 (April 17, 2012) - Non League

In a non league game against Davisville Middle School, Deering lost 8-4 after leaving 14 runners stranded.

Offensively, Deering received contributions from Chris Gaipo (one single and one run scored), Matt Grenier (two singles), Joe Maynard (three walks and one run scored), Pacer Carpenter (one hit batsmen and one run scored), Tom Doran (one single and one run scored), Ernie Wright (one single and two walks), Logan Chapman (one hit batsmen and two walks), and Brian Moretti (one hit batsmen and one walk). 

Game Four:  Deering 10  Ponaganset 7 (April 12, 2012)

Despite a strong effort by a determined Ponaganset nine, Deering won their third league game of the year, 10-7.

Tom Doran, who picked up the victory, struck out four batters and scattered ten hits in the first five innings.  Out of 86 pitches thrown, the lefty threw 53 strikes.

Brian Moretti, who picked up the save, struck out two batters in two innings of work. 

Offensively, Deering received contributions from Chris Gaipo (two singles and two runs scored), Matt Grenier (one hit batsmen), Alex Hernandez (one walk), Andrew D'Ambrosca (one r.b.i. single), Joe Maynard (one single, two walks, and one run scored), Pacer Carpenter (one single, three walks, and one run scored), Trevor Lawton (two walks and two runs scored), Tom Doran (three singles, two runs scored, and two r.b.i.'s), Ernie Wright (one walk and one r.b.i.), Logan Chapman (four walks and one run scored), and Brian Moretti (one run scored and two walks).

Game Three:  Deering 13  EWG 3 (April 10, 2012) 

Led by the combined no-hit pitching of Joe Maynard and Matt Grenier, Deering won their second league game of the year over EWG, 13-3. 

Maynard, who picked up the victory, struck out 13 batters and walked six batters in five innings of work.  Out of 103 pitches thrown, the righty threw 52 strikes. 

Grenier, who pitched the final two innings, struck out two batters and walked one. 

Offensively, Deering received contributions from Chris Gaipo (one single, one walk, and two runs scored), Matt Grenier (one single, one walk, and two runs scored), Joe Maynard (two doubles, one run scored, and three r.b.i.'s), Pacer Carpenter (two doubles and three r.b.i.'s), Trevor Lawton (one single and one run scored), Tom Doran (two singles and two runs scored), Brogan Guilmette (one single, one walk, and one run scored), Alex Hernandez (one walk and two runs scored), Ernie Wright (one single, one run scored, and two r.b.i.'s), and Brian Moretti (one single, two runs scored, and one r.b.i.). 

Game Two:  Feinstein 10  Deering 4 (April 4, 2012)

In a game featuring last year's first place team (Feinstein 13-1) and second place team (Deering 12-2), Feinstein outlasted a short-handed Deering nine, 10-4. 

Offensively, Deering could only manage one big inning against the defending Central Division champions. 

Down 9-0, Deering scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on hits by Pacer Carpenter (triple) and Chris Gaipo (double).

Brian Moretti, who pitched four innings of relief for Deering, allowed only one run on two hits and two walks.

Game One:  Deering 14  Birchwood 4 (April 2, 2012)

The John F. Deering baseball team took advantage of 14 walks and produced 10 hits in a 14-4 "ten-run" victory over Birchwood Middle School. 

Joe Maynard, who  pitched all six innings, struck out 12 batters and allowed only three hits in the contist.  Out of 101 pitches thrown, he threw 62 strikes.

Offensively, Deering received contributions from Matt Grenier (four walks and three runs scored), Tom Doran (two singles, two walks, and and two runs scored), Joe Maynard (one double, one single, and two runs scored), Pacer Carpenter (one triple, two singles, and two runs scored), Brian Moretti (three walks and one run scored), Chris Gaipo (one double, three walks, and two runs scored), Brogan Guilmette (one double, two singles, and one run scored), Ernie Wright (one single and one walk), and Logan Chapman (one single, one walk, and one run scored).
